The Embrace of Seme-Nawa
Frequently Asked Questions

I hope that both people entering the kinbaku world for the first time and veterans alike will savor that nervous anticipation that precludes your first visit to salon K2. I also can understand the many concerns and fears that accompany such a feat. As such I have compiled a list of the frequent questions about the embrace of seme-nawa from people wishing to be bound for your reading. I hope this serves to answer any doubts you may have.

Yes, of course. I urge you to try kinbaku through genuine curiosity without lending yourself to labels such as “submissive” or “masochist”. Our salon is filled with a huge range of people each with their own and varied sets of likes and dislikes. There are many, for example, that are averse to pain such as whipping, candles, or spanking. I’d say that the one thing we all share is a strong sense of curiosity. I don’t consider myself submissive or masochistic (lol), nor do I enjoy other forms of so-called BDSM play. I was simply curious about kinbaku and found out that I enjoyed being bound after giving it a try in real life. While many see kinbaku as a form of SM involving a hierarchical dominant-submissive relation, there are many people that this doesn’t apply to. Kitagawa and I do not adhere to this stereotypical dynamic but rather share a partnership of equal standing.

While the word seme-nawa tends to conjure up frightening images of torture or aggressive kinbaku, the seme-nawa that Kitagawa and I aspire towards is far from that. Kitagawa takes great care to bind the body in a way that avoids any undesirable pain or distress that could inhibit the euphoric sensations, allowing me to fall deeper and deeper into a state of surrender with each movement of the rope against my body. His ropes bind me, entrapping me in a web of intensifying pressure and constraint that drives me, physically and mentally, into a corner of no return. Here Kitagawa awaits me. And, with one final pull of the rope the wall breaks, and I’m swallowed in waves of euphoric ecstasy that lies beyond. The pleasure that lies at the far tip of suffering may seem paradoxical. It’s much like runner’s high in some sense, I guess.

Every type of kinbaku has a risk of injury, whether it's seme-nawa or otherwise. A common injury (kinbaku injury) is numbness of the upper limbs which is caused mainly from bad placement of the ropes or excessive load on that part of the body. Kitagawa’s rope takes great caution to ensure against such injuries. Seme-nawa does not bind the body so tight as to cause pain but rather firmly embraces the body, leaving not an inch of movement for the ropes to slip or alter in pressure. Moreover, Kitagawa excels in adapting the binding according to the physique and the way the ropes respond to the body of the person he is binding. Through changing the course of his rope’s moment-to-moment he ensures that load or pressure is not concentrated in one area. A key feature is the avoidance of any transitioning (changing the position of the body) during suspension. No matter how well-practiced one is, the position of the ropes and the burden placed on them will always change according to the physique and differing posture/position of the subject's body. I feel that being bound in Kitagawa’s seme-nawa will offer justification to this key trait and the careful control given to the degree of pressure and burden of each rope on the body.

I think people always get nervous when doing something for the first time. Why don't you try attending as an observer for your first time? When I took my first step into the world of kinbaku I was overwrought with worry, so I understand this feeling of apprehension. The kinbaku you find on the internet won’t give you true insight into the world kinbaku in real life, but it may offer some idea of what it is. Exchanging information and talking with other members of Salon K2 may also be a useful way to gain insight into kinbaku and SM lifestyles. Many of the people who enjoy being bound that come to Salon K2 also engage in other forms of BDSM or fetish aside from just kinbaku and can offer a lot of inside information on local SM bars.

Of course. Many females who enjoy being bound attend Salon K2. Anyone attending for their first time will only be bound by Kitagawa, who has the most experience out of anyone, so you can rest assured that you will be in safe and mastered hands. After attending several times and getting to know other attending other members you could also try being bound by other experienced members and compare how it differs if you wish. While happening bars and other SM establishments attract people looking to hook up or engage in practices outside of kinbaku those types of people get quickly filtered out of our salon (lol) so you don't need to worry about that sort of thing.

There are no strict rules, but most people go for something light such as a camisole that won’t distract from the feeling of the rope against the bare skin. We have several clothing items that you may borrow here at the salon so please feel free to use those if you wish. If you’re concerned about showing too much skin, then a long slip night dress or cut and sew garment with leggings is also a valid option. The markings (impressions) left on the skin from the rope will disappear in a few hours, however, if this a concern for you then I recommend long pants or leggings just in case.

How do you feel? Have your fears and concerns been transformed into an excited anticipation?
